Northeast Heritage Music Camp
Located in the heart of northern Vermont's Green Mountains, the Northeast Heritage Music Camp celebrates the acoustic music and folk dance traditions of New England and eastern Canada, along with related traditions from Scotland, Ireland, and the southeastern United States. Come join us next June for a week of music instruction by world class players from these great traditions, dance to their music at our nightly contras, hear them in concert, and -- if you're so inclined -- jam with them or fellow tunes-aficionados into the wee hours. (We lifted this from the Camp website!) Grey will be teaching Irish flute, tin whistle and piano; Cindy will be teaching fingerstyle guitar and New England folksongs. There will also be a public concert featuring many members of the NHMC staff on Saturday night, June 21. For information, please contact the River Arts Council or the Hyde Park Opera House (phone 802-888-4507).

Timber Flute Festival

Randolph County Community Arts Center
The Timber Flute Festival is for musicians wanting to explore the history, practice, and creation of wooden flutes. A series of classes, ensemble coachings and evening events will be offered to increase the skill of the experienced player and provide an introduction for the beginner. The festival will focus on several arts associated with wooden flutes: the one-keyed flute (Baroque/Classical Eras) to the eight-keyed flute (Late Classical/Romantic) and Irish traditional music. Class schedules will be arranged so that festival participants can move from one tradition to the other. Players already experienced in one tradition are encouraged to try the other.
Grey will be teaching Irish flute and tin whistle and Cindy will be accompanying his classes on guitar.
