On this, his first commercial recording, Lotus Dickey (1911 - 1989) sings and plays the traditional songs and fiddle tunes of his youth in rural Orange County, Indiana. Lotus sings the lead vocals, fiddles and plays guitar along with a group of musical friends. The music was produced by Bob Lucas and recorded by Geoff Gephart on location at the lovely Lazy Black Bear Inn near Paoli, Indiana. The project was made possible with the support of the Indiana Arts Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, and Dorothy Gunzenhauser, and with the sponsorship of the Paoli, Indiana Public Library.
